Mental health talks

We are living in a complicated, fast-paced, cutthroat competitive and not so simple world where a person's happiness is determined by the outward achievements and everyone is working incessantly to achieve that, everyone wants that one thing to become happy, a dream job, dream house, fittest body, vacation in an exotic location, a beautiful lover and so on...which is short term and does not last long and this vicious cycle continues, but in this process, we forget to think about our own happiness and there are many who are not able to cope with the pressure of the so-called competitive environment despite their unabating efforts and fall into the trap of anxiety, stress, and depression.

So what actually we are missing??

We are missing that extended peace of mind which comes internally. We tend to believe that if we get what we aspire for we will be happy, but when life knocks us down, we are shattered. We should start imbibing gratitude for what we already have while striving to achieve our goal.

True happiness is achieving that state of tranquility which does not vanish as soon as we get back to the track, it's an elongated state of inner peace, which is unaffected by the outer world. In the process of achieving timeless repose, we don't have to ignore the outer world and be callous towards others but bring our mind, body, and soul at peace while achieving those.

But is it so easy to achieve that state of inner peace ?? Believe me, it is anything but easy, though it is not impossible to achieve that, it requires decluttering your mind, training your mind to change your thought process, redirecting your mind to think positively.

The unexpected lockdown has compelled people to get cooped up in their houses, while some of them perceive it as an opportunity to spend time with their loved ones and a break from their never-ending work schedules, but there are many who are suffering from anxiety attacks, stress, and even depression.

There are some ways, which can help to overcome this situation:

  • Indulge yourself in something which you love to do. It may sound like a cliche but it can actually help you to overcome all the stress and negativity surrounding you. It can be anything like cooking, painting, reading, plantation, etc. Sulking yourself in something which you love to do will redirect your mind towards it and you will finish your day with positivity and happiness.

  • Don't hold any grudges against anyone and imprison your mind with it. Grudges will steal your peace of mind and tranquility, the longer you hold the grudges the more agony you are likely to suffer.

  • Practice altruism, be kind to others for no reason, it will come back to you in multiple folds, empathize with people instead of judging them, it is bliss in ourselves which will bring out true happiness.

  • Practicing Meditation can help in calming the mind reducing rumination and overthinking, It helps in alleviating stress and anxiety.

When we will direct our minds to look for the positives, we will attract positivity. A person is an accumulation of what he thinks the entire day. Initially, it will seem to be an arduous job but when we repeatedly try it, we can overcome it eventually increasing our mental health.
